Our Justice and Immigration Business Unit works closely with the UK Government in providing essential services to six adult prisons under contract to the Ministry of Justice's National Offender Management Service (NOMS) and the Scottish Prison Service. We provide safe and secure transportation of Prisoners to and from HM Prisons, Courts and Police Stations as well as secure training centres for juveniles based in England and Wales.
We also work closely with the Home Office's UK Visas and Immigration department to help the Government manage migration successfully and Serco currently operate one Immigration Removal Centre in Bedfordshire. In addition to this we deliver accommodation and transport services to asylum applicants in the North West of England and Scotland.
We are currently recruiting a Security Manager to support existing and future operations within the Justice and Immigration Business Unit (J&I) on a 12 months fixed term contract.
Salary: £40,000 per annum
Overview of the role
The Security Manager role is responsible for providing specialist security advice, assurance and investigatory support to bid support teams and across all J&I contract locations. The primary task is to ensure current and future Business Unit (BU) contracts manage physical, people and information security in accordance with corporate, contractual and regulatory requirements.
The role provides SME advice upon the appropriate measures necessary to manage a wide range of Security-related risks, and vulnerabilities. To include:

+ The evaluation of the BU/Contracts exposure to current/future Security risks.
+ The implementation of appropriate, effective risk mitigation measures.
+ The interpretation and implementation of corporate, regulatory and legal policies
* Supporting and promoting the development, implementation and continual improvement of security procedures, processes and awareness within current and future contracts in order to embed a consistent security management system and quality across the J&I Business Unit that is aligned with corporate strategy.
* Oversee and advice upon the processes necessary to ensure Security awareness and best practices are understood and shared across contracts and other Central Government business units, including our Centres of Excellence.
Experience of working within either a Security Management role (min 2 years) or holding / studying for appropriate professional qualification; (e.g.,CISM, or equivalent security management qualification).
You will be able to demonstrate an ability to work with and advice and influence senior leaders and managers in respect of security risks, vulnerabilities and control measures. You will demonstrate a sound understanding of the risks and regulatory environments relating to people, physical and information security.
You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Sound judgement plus the ability to prioritise and work without direct supervision are essential qualities.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office.
Our contracts are located throughout the UK therefore the willingness and ability to travel within all regions of the UK and a valid UK driver`s licence is essential.
