Serco manage the COMPASS (Commercial and Operational Managers Procuring Asylum and Support) Contracts covering the North West of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland responsible for the provision of support services for persons claiming asylum, granted refugee status. These services include the provision of predominantly accommodation, transportation and associated services to assist service users settle in their new location.
The Maintenance Team look after approximately 1700 asylum seeker properties in the Greater Glasgow area covering anything from general maintenance tasks to more specialist; plumbing, painting, electrical and engineering works. This role is predominantly field based, so a full UK Driving Licence is essential and you will have access to a company van.
Overview of the Role
We are currently expanding the team and looking for a Gas Engineer to work full time Monday to Friday with a requirement to work on call when required which may include unsociable hours e.g. weekends / bank holidays. The salary for this role is £28,000.
As a Gas Engineer you will work closely with the wider Maintenance Team to ensure an outstanding service is delivered to the service users. You will carry out planned maintenance checks on gas central heating systems and bathroom equipment whilst also completing general maintenance duties.
A key part of this role will involve testing controls and safety devices to make sure they are working properly, finding and repairing gas leaks, repairing / replacing faulty (or old) parts and keeping gas safe records of works that you have carried out.
You will be given access to a company phone / laptop and be responsible for recording completion of jobs through the Veco IT system.
The successful candidate will have experience working in a general maintenance role and carrying out gas engineering works. Ideally you will have gained this experience within a residential, care or community environment that delivers a property facilities maintenance service. You will also have the following qualifications/certification;
* A recognised Gas Industry Qualification and Gas Safe Registration
* Level 3 (NVQ or equivalent) in Domestic Natural Gas Installation and Maintenance
* Level 3 Diploma or equivalent in Gas Utilisation
* Level 3 (NVQ or equivalent) Diploma in Domestic Plumbing and Heating (Gas fired water and central heating appliances)
