Bricklaying & Carpentry
The C2C programme is a Persimmon Homes initiative aimed at service leavers seeking to transfer their existing skills into a second career within the house building industry. We will employ and train you to the nationally required standard, pay you a living wage during your training, leading to a recognised trade in Bricklaying or Carpentry.
Successful applicants will start with their employing region, commencing with a period of local induction at their designated site. Soon after joining they will be required to attend a two week residential training course where your formal training will begin. This will be conducted at Gateshead College Construction Skills Centre.
We will arrange and pay for all your accommodation whilst at the college, unless you live within commutable distance.
C2C is an apprenticeship framework leading to an NVQ Level 2 trade in either Bricklaying or Carpentry. This is the CITB industry recognised standard leading to recognised Tradesperson status. The formal training element of the apprenticeship will last up to 18 months however, with hard work and commitment you could be competent & earning more in a shorter time.
During your first 12 months you will be required to attend a further 5 block weeks at college (this will be on the same terms as the initial 2 weeks with accommodation provided.)
This Traineeship will attract an industry leading wage of £16224 pa (£8.00ph) during training. Once you achieve a suitable standard and become qualified we anticipate your salary will be considerably more. You will also receive a permanent full time contract of employment from day one.
1. A genuine desire and interest to learn your trade
2. Able to carry out the required duties of your trade
3. Car or Bike licence with the ability to travel to site
4. Willing to achieve a qualification and attend residential block weeks at a training college.
Preferred additional skills
An experience of working in a construction environment or experience of construction training would be desirable but not essential.
