Employment Support Grant Visit Page
A Legion Employment Support Grant may be awarded to support the vocational skills needed to start up a business or for attendance on a business-start-up or franchise course. However, the Grant will not be awarded to pay for the business or franchise or to buy a license from the franchisor.
Where an applicant intends to enter into self employment following completion of the course, they will be required to provide evidence to show that they are receiving professional business advice/support and that the business plan is supported by a UK government approved business support service.
X-Forces nurtures entrepreneurial ambition in the Armed Forces community, supporting individuals to realise their aspiration of running their own businesses.
Budding entrepreneurs are supported through a process of business planning, and their allocated advisors remain with them to launch and beyond. Through unique corporate partnerships with industry leaders, the new business owners are further supported with mentorship and networking.
Since its foundation in July 2013, X-Forces has helped to launch more than 600 new businesses. These have ranged from tree surgery to physiotherapy and from recruitment agencies to craft cafes. Some start-ups are one-man operations, and others have accelerated quickly to occupy multiple premises and employ a team of staff; both types of business are providing fulfilling careers and contributing to the growth of the UK economy.
