Service Families Employment

The Service Families Employment scheme addresses the barriers that can result from the demands of military life and which make it harder for Service families to access opportunities to improve their employment, training and career prospects.

On Civvy Street, employers are being encouraged to advertise job vacancies that are on or near a Ministry of Defence location. Some of the employers who are participating in this scheme are featured on this page.

The Electric Telegraph Company incorporated in 1846, was the first anywhere to exploit leading edge telegraphy technology and introduce electrical communications to an astonished world. Within ten years an international network had been developed, making communications possible within minutes and hours instead of days and weeks. The consequences for every aspect of society were dramatic and profound.

Civvy Street is working closely with employer organistions and industry sector agencies to bring you into contact with civilian employers, trades and professions who are promoting career opportunities within their sector

The Civvy Street Employment Fair is an online version of the type of event normally held in large exhibition centres. At these events, employers gather to 'sell' the benefits of working for them and to meet prospective candidates for their job vacancies.

The Service Families Employment scheme and the Be The Boss scheme were both launched on Civvy Street on 1st April, 2010.
