Eligibility

To be eligible for Be The Boss, you must be able to prove that you have served in the UK Armed Forces and were discharged on or after 7th October 2001.

This is a statutory scheme provided by the UK Government. There can be no exemptions from this eligibility criteria.

Therefore, you must confirm that you can provide discharge papers as evidence when requested.

You will also be required to provide evidence that :-

a) You have met with a recognised, professional business advisor to discuss your business idea

b) That you have attended a Business Startup course. This is to ensure that you are able to produce a comprehensive Business Plan and have been given instruction on how to evaluate the financial implications of your plan

c) You have produced a Business Plan that has been reviewed, vetted and signed by a qualified advisor.

If you have not been able to identify free courses or advice, you should apply under this scheme for funding to do so.

Be The Boss requires these elements to ensure that you have thoroughly thought through your plan and the implications of taking on a loan and to ensure that you use any financial award to best effect. Independent, professional advice will help ensure that you have the optimum chance of success in your new venture.
