Disabled Job Seekers

We are committed to ensuring that Civvy Street is accessible to all regardless of disability status. To make sure that we remove as many barriers to access as possible, we have designed the site to comply with internationally recognised standards such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). These guidelines are designed to make website content accessible for disabled users.

The WCAG guidelines have three levels of compliance; A, AA and AAA, of which A is the lowest and AAA the highest. We are currently reviewing the site to make sure we comply with the AA standard which indicates better accessibility and the removal of significant barriers to accessing content.

As a further mark of our commitment to accessibility, we have applied for accreditation with The Shaw Trust, a national charity which supports disabled and disadvantaged people to prepare for work, find jobs and live more independently. They are the UK’s largest third sector (social enterprise, charity and voluntary organisations) provider and one of the Government’s lead partners in the delivery of employment programmes for disabled and disadvantaged people. Every year they work with over 60,000 clients and also provide services for employers and public sector organisations.
