Getting Legal Advice

There are many reasons why you might need legal advice. These could include debt, benefits, housing, discrimination, employment or consumer problems. You can:

  • visit your local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) if you need advice. Their website will list your local branch.
  • contact the Community Legal Services (CLS). They will give you free and impartial advice, tell you if you qualify for free legal aid and put you in touch with a solicitor.
  • contact a solicitor yourself, but they will probably charge for their time and advice, so try the CAB or CLS first. If they think you need to see a solicitor, they will be able to recommend one to you.

Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. The websites on this page have lots of information and can put you in touch with people who can give you free, high quality legal advice.
