Online, open and distance learning

Online learning
Online learning is done via the web and can be carried out at home, at work, or anywhere that you have access to the internet. It gives you great flexibility to learn at a time, place and speed to suit your needs. Online learning allows you to study for anything from short courses such as the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) to full degree courses.

While online learning is naturally suited to distance learning, it can also be used together with face to face teaching or training.

Open and distance learning
Open and distance learning give you the flexibility to fit learning around your life and the freedom to study at your own pace.  Using the internet and email, you can study at home, at work, or at a learning centre using specially developed home-study materials. You can keep in touch with your college, your tutors and your fellow students through specialist educational software enabling chats and discussions on line. Sometimes colleges will also run extra face to face courses such as weekend and summer schools.  Tutor support will be available by telephone, post or email, or a combination of the three.  Courses are available across a wide range of subjects, so you should find something that interests you.
