Funding for learning (F.E.) for disabled people

Colleges and learning providers are covered by the Disability Discrimination Act which means it is unlawful for them to discriminate against disabled people.

Most colleges and learning providers have a named member of staff who has responsibility for ensuring that the needs of disabled learners are met. This person may be called the Learning Support Adviser, Inclusive Learning Co-ordinator or Disability Co-ordinator.

If you need special equipment, such as a personal or laptop computer, the college may supply one for use at the college but this equipment will remain the property of the college and you may not be allowed to take it home.

Grants are available to help in this situation from The Royal British Legion Training Grants Award scheme. (Registered members of Civvy Street only). If you are registered on Civvy Street (and logged in) you will see a link below to get more information about this scheme.
