Learning for work

It may be that you are ready to work, have an up-to-date CV and have all of the skills needed to join the civilian workforce. In which case, you should proceed straight to our jobs section where we have thousands of current vacancies.

However, it is very likely that you need some help in getting the job that’s right for you. Whether you are looking for your first job in Civvy Street, are unemployed or are looking to further your career, you should look at developing your skills and obtaining recognised qualifications to succeed in your chosen direction.

This section will give you useful information about training and qualifications that can help you to get a job, increase your qualifications whilst working or enhance skills you acquired in the Armed Forces.
Professional qualifications are often at degree/postgraduate level and are required for jobs such as teaching, law and accountancy.

Commercial training providers or FE Colleges can provide the training needed to obtain vocational qualifications such as an LGV Licence, Security SIA licence or certification as a domestic electrician.

Alternatively, some schemes offer work-based learning, which is a course studied in the work place and directly related to the job you are doing.

Please look at the sections below and the web links to the right of this page to find out more.
