Hi Steve

As another has said try psychometric profiling, heres 2 free sites:

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

http://www.personalitytest.net/

You'll then have a Jung profile (4 letters ESTP etc) then google your profile + careers ie ESTP careers and that'll give you a start on what will suit you, then it's a case of research for jobs and funding sources.

All the best

AJ

Hi Steve,
My wife worked in adult education area for a few years and she offers following advice:

Have you tried 'Learn Direct' or 'Next Steps?, as we think Connexions is more for younger people (under 25yrs old).

Learn Direct is a government funded and should be able to point you to sources that can give you CV and careers advice, which is free. They probably should also know about any training courses in your area that are free or well-subsidised. For example, in Wiltshire, through TABS, they are offering free Fork-Lift truck driving trg and qualifications.

'Next Steps' which offers info, advice about re-training and 'getting back to work', but may be useful to you in changing jobs.

Also, your local Colleges have more trained staff, these would be worth approaching.

For the moderator - suggest you look at adding this type of info to the website, as it seems a common thread throughout these forums!!

Best Wishes,
Phil C

Dear Users

It may be useful for you to call the Goverment Careers Advice Line on free phone 0800 100 900 who can give

impartial information on courses and careers, as well as job profiles, a CV Builder, forums and podcasts.

Also Civvy Street offer vocational training grant applications which help low income, unemployed and low skilled legion beneficiaries to gain the skills and qualifications they need to improve their job prospects and gain sustainable employment.  It may be worth giving us a call to discuss this further on 0800 1694 073 and maybe we could send you out an application pack with guidelines and eligibilty criteria.

I hope that this helps.

Louise
