hey all. i was medically discharged from the Royal Navy in Jan and am struggling to find a job. I have an Nvq lvl 2 in Performing Engineering Operations but it seems no1 wants to touch me as i dont have the experience required to do an Engineering job. I was wondering if any1 might have some ideas or advice on finding work.

It may be worth giving the Goverment Careers Advice a call on free phone 0800 100 900.  They are able to offer

impartial information on courses and careers, as well as job profiles, a CV Builder, forums and podcasts.

Here at Civvy Street we also offer careers advice and can help with CV building and interview techniques.  We also offer vocational training grants and bursary awards.  These are to help low income, unemployed and low skilled legion beneficiaries gain the skills and qualifications they need to be able to gain sustainable employment in the future.  They are not guaranteed as there is certain eligibility criteria and an application process, but is successful we can grant upto a maximum of £3000 per academic year to fund training.
