Whilst I believe there is a place for this service at present I do believe that it is a bit of a lost lemon on a lime tree.
The Internet is a great tool for many people BUT!!!!! There is no substitute for talking to people and that is sadly lacking in this service delivery.
The way it is structured is not good for even an experienced Internet user such as myself (I have been a web designer for well over ten years). The advice sections are moderate at best and there could be more done to provide more advice and structured levels for job seeking, with links to employers who have the need and are aware of the skill sets former HM Forces personnel can provide. As well as links to sites who activly promote ex forces jobs.
There should be access to an immediate responce team who can also provide access to support as it is evident from the very few posts to date that many of those who have used the message board are showing signs of PTSD as well. Job hopping is a clear indicator of PTSD for anyone reading this post.
The overall look of the site is also off putting as the site shows no real ties to the people it is aimed at. When I first came to the site I went away as I thought I had the wrong site as the nice pic of a street scene is not what I expect on a site aimed at former HM Forces. I dare say this fact is off putting to many visiting for the first time, please remember we are proud people and the look and feel of this site is rather condasending to say the least with very sterile images. No matter how many times I look at the site it just does not work graphically.
Having said all that it is heading in the right direction and just needs to be something that people are told is here for their use. The site is also sadly lacking meta data that will help people to find the site when searching on the Internet.
